    Faith Class Welcome Letter

31 August 2022 (by Rebecca Brooks (R Brooks))

    Autumn Term 2022 30.08.22
    Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Faith Class and the start of a new school year. It is lovely to see the children back in school. They have
settled in well and are ready to learn! Here is some information for Faith Class:
    Staffing
I will be teaching the class from Tuesday - Friday, with Planning, Preparation & Assessment time timetabled for a
Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Garner will cover the class at this time. Mrs. Ahmad will teach the class on Mondays.
    Reading
Please listen to your child read at home as much as possible and encourage your child to talk about the story,
characters, setting etc which will support your child’s reading development and comprehension. If you have any
problems with reading at home, please do not hesitate to contact me for support and advice. I would be grateful if
you can please sign and date the Home/School yellow communication book to show when you have listened to your
child read. You can also sign their book if they have read to themselves for a sustained period of time. Although the
children in Faith class can, and should, read independently it is still important that they read aloud to someone at
times, as this improves their fluency and expression. The children will be awarded stars each time they read at home.
They will also have access to the library.
    Homework
Your child has now been provided with a homework task for them to complete, to support their learning. Maths and
English homework will be set on alternate weeks. Homework may sometimes be set on Teams. They will also be given
weekly spellings to learn on a Monday and tested the following Monday. Homework will be sent home on a Friday and
be expected back to school the following Thursday. Homework should be completed to a high standard. This will begin
to prepare your child for the expectations of secondary school and form good working habits for the future. Log in
details for access to on-line resources will be shared with you.
    P.E Sessions
This term our P.E sessions will be on Tuesday and Friday, as usual. Children will need to come into school wearing their
outdoor P.E kit. Please make sure that all items of clothing are labelled clearly.
    Home Time
If your child is going home with someone other than yourself, please let us know and provide a note in the yellow
communication book. This is especially important if your child usually uses the school taxi service.
Finally, if you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact the school office on 0116 259 6327 or email
me on R.Brooks@billesdon.leics.sch.com I am very much looking forward to teaching all of the children over the next
    year and working with you.
